Cast Iron Pizza

Cook with our 12" Cast Iron Griddle

Ingredients:

1 ½ cups bread flour

1tbsp garlic powder

1 tsp salt

1 tbsp olive oil

¾ cups water

2 ¼ tsp dry active yeast

1 tsp sugar

¼ cup pesto

4-6 pieces fresh mozzarella cheese

¼ cup cherry tomatoes, halved

Fresh basil leaves

Instructions:

To make the dough: Combine the water, yeast, and sugar in a measuring cup. Stir to combine and let it sit on the counter for about 5 minutes or until the yeast blooms.

Meanwhile, in a large bowl stir together the flour, garlic powder, and salt. When the yeast mixture is ready to use pour over the flour, add the olive oil, and using a handheld mixer with the dough hook attached, mix until the dough comes together.

Flip on a floured work surface and continue knitting with your hands until the dough takes shape and you can form a ball.

Grease a large mixing bowl with olive oil and place the dough inside. Cover with plastic wrap and leave it in a warm place in your kitchen to rise.

Once doubled in size, flip over a flowered surface and shape into a ball again. Using a rolling pin or your hands, spread the dough into an ½ inch circle.

Preheat the oven to 350F and grease your cast iron griddle with olive oil and transfer the pizza dough on top.

Spread the pesto and top with mozzarella cheese, cherry tomatoes, and basil. Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a minute or two before slicing and serving.
