Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups bread flour
- 1tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- ¾ cups water
- 2 ¼ tsp dry active yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- ¼ cup pesto
- 4-6 pieces of fresh mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- Fresh basil leaves
Instructions
- To make the dough: Combine the water, yeast, and sugar in a measuring cup. Stir to combine and let it sit on the counter for about 5 minutes or until the yeast blooms.
- Meanwhile, in a large bowl stir together the flour, garlic powder, and salt. When the yeast mixture is ready to use pour over the flour, add the olive oil, and using a handheld
- mixer with the dough hook attached, mix until the dough comes together.
- Flip on a floured work surface and continue knitting with your hands until the dough takes shape and you can form a ball.
- Grease a large mixing bowl with olive oil and place the dough inside. Cover with plastic wrap and leave it in a warm place in your kitchen to rise.
- Once doubled in size, flip over a flowered surface and shape into a ball again. Using a rolling pin or your hands, spread the dough into an ½ inch circle.
- Preheat the oven to 350F and grease your cast iron griddle with olive oil and transfer the pizza dough on top.
- Spread the pesto and top with mozzarella cheese, cherry tomatoes, and basil.
- Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a minute or two before slicing and serving.
